Supporting Laboratory Systems Strengthening Activities in Zimbabwe under the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)

The Award Ceiling for Year 1 is 0 (none). CDC anticipates an Approximate Total Fiscal Year Funding amount of $12,000,000 for Year 1, subject to the availability of funds.The aim of this NOFO is to build and strengthen systems within the laboratory network in order to ensure universal access to quality diagnostic services for viral load (VL)/Early Infant Diagnosis (EID)/tuberculosis (TB)/sexually transmitted infections (STI) in a bid to save lives of people living with HIV (PLHIV) and avert new infections under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) in Zimbabwe.Key activities include building capacity and expand services for HIV VL/EID/TB/STI testing including point of care (POC) through technical assistance (TA) and human resources for health (HRH); strengthening laboratory information management system (LIMS) and its integration with other e-health system; implementing innovative approaches for continuous quality improvement (CQI) in VL/EID/TB/STI testing according to international standards; including rapid testing continuous quality improvement (RT-CQI) and Clinic Laboratory Interface (CLI); strengthening laboratory capacity for disease surveillance, diagnosis, treatment, disease monitoring, and emerging diseases of public health concern; supporting development of national laboratory policy guidelines and standards and supporting technical assistance to laboratorians and clinicians through training and mentorship.
