Office of Native Hawaiian Relations: Native Hawaiian Community International Traditional Knowledge Project

Native Hawaiian Organizations (NHO) as defined in the National Historic Preservation Act and Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act. An active registration on the U.S. Department of the Interior Office of Native Hawaiian Relations NHO List may be noted in the grant application as evidence that the NHO meets the definition in either of these two statutes. To register your NHO, go to www.doi.gov/hawaiian/nholist. Homestead Associations and HHCA Beneficiary Associations (collectively HBA) as defined in 43 CFR parts 47 & 48. An active registration on the U.S. Department of the Interior Office of Native Hawaiian Relations HBA List may be noted in the grant application as evidence that the HBA meets either of the definitions listed in 43 CFR parts 47 & 48. To register your HBA, go to www.doi.gov/hawaiian/homestead-beneficiary-associations. The applying grantee must be able to demonstrate their knowledge or experience in successfully developing and executing the three phased program outlined in the Required Tasks section. The applying grantee must have a Letter of Interest/Support from the foreign indigenous community leader(s) with whom the grantee will engage in the traditional knowledge sharing. The applying grantee must have a current DUNS number for their NHO or HBA. All NHO/HBA participants supported by this grant must be an NHO or HBA member and be a U.S. Citizen.
