GRANTQUICK SUMMARYPlain-English Overview
ACL is reimbursing State Units on Aging and Title VI tribal organizations for disaster response costs — meals delivered to displaced seniors, emergency transportation, welfare checks, temporary shelter coordination, etc. Only available to states/tribes that received a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration. $30K-$600K per award, 7 awards. This is RETROACTIVE reimbursement for disaster costs already incurred.
Who Should Apply
State Units on Aging and federally recognized tribal organizations (funded under OAA Title VI) that are in areas with a current Presidential Major Disaster Declaration and incurred costs serving older adults during the disaster.
Who Should NOT Apply
States/tribes without a current disaster declaration, local nonprofits (must go through your SUA), organizations not funded under the Older Americans Act.
Key Requirements (Plain English)
- •Must be a State Unit on Aging OR a Title VI tribal organization
- •Must have a current Presidential Major Disaster Declaration
- •Must have incurred disaster-related costs serving older adults
- •This is reimbursement, not prospective funding
💡 GrantQuick Tip
If your state had a recent disaster declaration (hurricane, wildfire, flood) and your SUA spent money helping seniors, this is essentially free reimbursement. The application is documenting costs you already incurred. Check FEMA's active disaster declarations list — if your state is on it, apply immediately.
Competitiveness: Very low — this is reimbursement for existing costs, limited to states with active disaster declarations. If you qualify, you'll almost certainly be funded.
