What This Grant Funds

OJP is committed to advancing work that promotes civil rights and racial equity, increases access to justice, supports crime victims and individuals impacted by the justice system, strengthens community safety and protects the public from crime and evolving threats, and builds trust between law enforcement and the community. NIJ is authorized to distribute funds to support projects designated for funding in the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2022 (Public Law 117-103) that improve the functioning of the criminal justice system, prevent or combat juvenile delinquency, and assist victims of crime (other than compensation). With this solicitation, NIJ seeks to advance this purpose by supporting the operations of the Committee on Law and Justice (CLAJ) of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NAS). Statutory Authority: Department of Justice Appropriations Act, 2022 (Pub. L. No. 117-103, 136 Stat. 49, 125).
