OJJDP FY 16 Second Chance Act Strengthening Relationships Between Young Fathers, Young Mothers, and Their Children

Category 1: Young Fathers and Their Children Eligible applicants are limited to nonprofit organizations (including faith-based, tribal, and community nonprofit organizations) and federally recognized Indian tribes, as determined by the Secretary of the Interior, to provide comprehensive reentry support services, including mentoring, that will help justice-involved young fathers reintegrate into their communities and that address the purpose and goals listed in this solicitation. Category 2: Young Mothers and Their Children Eligible applicants are limited to nonprofit organizations (including faith-based, tribal, and community nonprofit organizations) and federally recognized Indian tribes, as determined by the Secretary of the Interior, to provide comprehensive reentry support services, including mentoring, that will help justice-involved young mothers reintegrate into their communities and that address the purpose and the goals listed in this solicitation. Applicants must submit letters of support or memoranda of understanding with juvenile justice or adult correctional agencies that oversee the reentry process for young fathers or mothers (younger than 25 years old). OJJDP strongly encourages applicants to partner with other community-based agencies that can enhance their project or leverage existing resources and local mental health or substance abuse treatment providers to provide holistic reentry support services, including the mentoring component. However, one eligible entity must be the applicant, and the others must be proposed as subrecipients. The applicant must be the entity with primary responsibility for administering the funding and managing the entire project. OJJDP will consider only one application per lead applicant; however, subrecipients may be part of multiple proposals.
