Combat Wildlife Trafficking in China

INL seeks to fund programs that improve China’s will and capacity to investigate, arrest, prosecute, convict, and sentence all those involved in wildlife crime, in accordance with international best practices and human rights standards. Proposals must include details on how the applicant proposes to provide technical assistance to China in one or more of the following areas:

1. enhance information-sharing among China and countries along major illicit supply routes for wildlife;

2. increase the effectiveness of law enforcement against wildlife trafficking in key locations through the provision of wildlife-specific technical support;

3. mainstream counter wildlife trafficking efforts into China’s national activities on anti-money-laundering and corruption; and/or

4. expand and strengthen China’s legislative and regulatory frameworks on wildlife crime.

INL will prioritize proposals for programs that:

 are unique and groundbreaking;

 include anti-corruption activities to prevent government officials’ participation in or benefit from wildlife crime;

 counter the criminal organizations that perpetrate wildlife crime.
