What This Grant Funds

To conduct an analysis identifying key competencies in law enforcement, criminal defense, prosecution, the judiciary, and corrections that are essential for a holistic approach to criminal justice reform, but which lack commonly accepted standards for accreditation and credentialing at the international level and provide recommendations on how such standards can or should be developed and applied in support of U.S. foreign assistance efforts.

The final product will encompass a report explaining the methodology employed, the research conducted, findings and analysis with recommendations on how to proceed, given all currently available information, to establishing and utilizing an INL-specific international accreditation and/or certification process for the various criminal justice sectors. It will also include comprehensive appendices and matrices for comparative evaluation by INL criminal justice subject matter experts.
